Biochemical signs of Overdiuresis

Diuresis is an important treatment in the setting of fluid overload. But it has potential side effects. Of NOTE:

  • Thiazide: hypokalemic metabolic alkalosis, hyponatremia, hypercalcemia, hyperglycemia, hyperuricemia, *increasing Cr (*controversial)
  • Loop Diuretics: hypokalemic metabolic alkalosis, hypocalcemia (loops lose Ca+), *increasing Cr (*controversial)
  • K+ Sparing: Metabolic acidosis, hyperkalemia
