What are the Liver Function Tests (LFTs)?

A pretty standard question to be asked on the wards. They are markers of Liver Synthetic function; they are as follows:

  1. Albumin
  2. INR
  3. Platelets
  4. Bilirubin
  • *Glucose is sometimes included, but is a very late sign of dysfunction.

NOTE: AST, ALT, Alk-P, GGT are NOT LFTS! Do not make this mistake.
